Many people have never heard of Sunny Beach Bulgaria despite the huge amount of development. The credit crunch means that less people are going there and holidaying at home. The result of this is that this resort has reduced prices on hotels and resorts substantially. There has also been a lot of building of apartments and hotels in the boom years and there is of course over supply of rooms. Oversupply means competition and competition means good prices. Good prices in turn means cheap breaks and is ideal for the younger set who have less money and less concerned about the quality of life. Younger people invariably means late nights and lots of frivolity.

You may have heard some horror stories, but like many places these are few and far between and the police force are not timid! Unlike many European resorts, Sunny Beach is still a little rough around the edges and therefore more relaxed. The beach itself is about 2-3 km long and the resort changes along the way, at the top end (St Vlas end) it is quieter with some really good hotels and restaurants, the middle section is busier with shops and places to eat.At the far end, sometimes known as the boulevard, is very busy and attracts all the mainstream groups such as stags & hen parties. It takes about 30 minutes to walk the beach (unless you stop at watering holes), but there are lots of buggy rentals along the front, for only a few Euros equivalent. Stopping on the beach means paying for sun shades, but the beach is very clean and the sea is crystal clear and warm and very shallow.

Restaurants are now better value and from our experience they are very good and offer a variety of foods to suit all. So for groups cheap breakfasts after late nights are good value and eating out before the launch into oblivion is not too pricey.

Most stags and hens revolve around sand, sand and sipping wine, but also tend toward daytime activities. There are two aqua parks at Sunny Beach, one in the middle of Sunny Beach and the other on the road out to Nessabar, but both offer free transport along the whole length of

Sunny Beach main road. There is a great pool cocktail bar in front of the pirate ship which stages shows during the day. Add this to a little crazy golf, water sports, some sun worship, good food and some crazy nightclubs then Sunny Beach can expect to see some more young groups heading their way in the recession and beyond.....
